Maya and Dylan had no heroic aspirations. They loved video games, cars and each other. They would have preferred to live in the arcade or at the race track, with the sound of bells and buzzers and the bright lights of new high score indicators or whirring engines and the explosion of jump jets.

But the Mech Punks were increasing their restrictive noose on anything resembling fun in Retro City. Favorite social haunts were being shut down. The familiar neon glow of the city was slowly being extinguished by the aggressive crackdown of the Mechs, and Maya and Dylan knew it was going to a decisive response from someone to slow their march.

Very few had the resources to take on the Punks. Maya and Dylan had the necessary resources. They had decked out their vehicles with all the technology required to take down the Mech Punks and had done so without tipping off the Punks. It was time to act. It was time to take back their beloved Retro City.

Maya and Dylan were not seeking their destiny. Their destiny was most definitely seeking them.
